Event # 8 marked North Metro Poker's second-ever knockout tournament. While we have had several spectacular heads-up finishes, the final hand of this event will be remembered for quite a while.

Tony Sanders and Steve Schiminski battled back and forth several times heads-up as each player was looking for their first victory. Both would get their chips all-in pre-flop holding pocket pairs.

Steve showed 88 but was disappointed to see Tony held a stronger pair with his 99.

The flop came down 1048 to give Steve a huge advantage. With two cards to come, Steve had a 85% chance to double through Tony after hitting his two-outter. Unfortunately for Steve, Tony caught up in a huge way by hitting his own two-outter with the 9 peeling off on the turn. Unfortunately for Steve, he couldn't hit the only remaining 8 in the deck and Tony completed a dominate effort with his fourth knockout of the night.

As this was a knockout tournament, Tony ended up with 16.99 points instead of 12.99 since with every opponent that a player knocks out, they receive a bonus point. With his bonus points, Tony took a commanding lead in the points race half-way through the season.

With 15 entries, Tony took home $268 for first place plus an additional $25 with his 5 knockout chips (total of $293) he had by tournaments end. The next tournament is scheduled for July 21st at 2:00 pm.
